Betsy's healing - Chinese New Year - Personal News - Didasko in 2022 - Brilliant quote

Thanks for Betsy's healing

We are grateful to report that Betsy is well again after her severe medical challenges over the last four months of last year. The calf where the blood clot formed (deep vein thrombosis) still hurts and she's still on blood thinning medication, but we praise the Lord that she's almost there!

FireworksHappy Chinese New Year

Yes, we know that new year was a month ago! But in our neck of the woods, we also have Ramadan / Eid (Muslims), Divali (Indian Hindus), and the Chinese New Year (CNY). We've just had CNY, with the accompanying fireworks displays all over the island. Quite a sight! Everything stops for the CNY week. It is the largest yearly migration of people worldwide, because in this time Chinese people all over the world try to be with their families.

Monét and JudePersonal news

Speaking of visiting family, we haven't seen our daughter, her husband and our grandchildren for almost three years now. As you could imagine, we really miss them. As many of you may know, two years ago we started the process of applying for "parent visas" so we can go and live near them. This long delay was caused mainly by COVID. But praise the Lord, we have finally obtained the visas! We hope to be moving there by the end of March.

The grandkids are counting down the days. After 21 years in the tropics, the weather is going to be an adjustment for us!

What lies ahead for Didasko in 2022

We are grateful to the Lord that our ministry allows us to work essentially from anywhere - as long as we have good internet. We jokingly say that we're relocating the "Didasko World Headquarters" to the US.

As the US is still the country who sends the most missionaries, we will have many opportunities to extend our ministry to them also. The beauty of an online ministry is that our current students will be unaffected by our move. By faith, we have already booked a stand at a large missions conference in November. The ICOM conference happens yearly in different locations. "Godincidentally," the 2022 venue is in Columbus, Ohio - the city we are moving to! How good is that?

Fruitful Practices is the result of extensive research done among Christian workers reaching out to Mus1ims. In collaboration with the V5.9 network's researchers, we're about to launch a course on this topic within the next few months. From the beginning of Didasko, it has been our desire to work with the top experts in missionary work to develop freely available courses. Our first such project was the School of Leadership course with Ps. Bruce Hills of World Outreach. The Fruitful Practices will be the first course done in collaboration with a large network of organizations.

We are in the process of "kickstarting" course projects with other experts (watch this space), while we are also busy developing an extensive course called "Understanding Culture - for the Sake of the Gospel."

Brilliant quote from our grandson Jude

"Happiness is eating cake. Joy is spending time with Jesus." Jude, age 9.

Until next time!

Love, Hendrik and Betsy
